Dr. Dog Is In The House
John Davisson – Dr. Dog
Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival, Sunshine Grove, Okeechobee, Fla.
Back with a new album and its first tour in two years, Dr. Dog will unleash its bark on fans in Phoenix, Boston, Detroit, San Antonio and other canine-luvin’ towns before wrapping in its Philadelphia hometown.
Critical Equation is the name of the new effort, dropping April 27 on Thirty Tigers. That the LP is the first release from Dr. Dog since 2016’s Abandoned Mansion was not lost on bassist/singer Toby Leaman.
“We’d been touring and making records for our entire adult lives, and I think we just needed to take a step back,” said Leaman. “It was important for all of us to figure out if we were actually doing what we wanted to be doing, or if we were just letting momentum carry us down this path we’d always been on.”
Dr. Dog’s 2016 winter / sprint tour sold plenty of tickets. Dates reported to Pollstar show the band averaging 87 percent tickets sold per evening, with the total gross hitting just over $668,000.
Several presales for the 2018 tour begin today and general onsales launch Jan. 20. This link is leashed to Dr. Dog’s Pollstar page.
