Jim Nabors Dies
Jim Nabors, the actor and musician most famous for his portrayal of Gomer Pyle in “The Andy Griffith Show” and “Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.,” has died at the age of 87, according to his husband.
In addition to his acting Nabors also had a long recording career, and was known for his performances of “Back Home Again In Indiana” before each Indianapolis 500. According to his website he

released 35 albums including compilations, three of which went Gold and one of which went platinum.
The actor and musician was born in 1930 in Alabama and grew up there, eventually moving to Los Angeles after graduating from the University of Alabama, where he was discovered by Andy Griffith. Nabors spent the last years of his life in Hawaii.
Nabors was not a prolific live performer. He played a short residency at the Hawaii Theatre on his home state of Hawaii, in November 2009, and at the Glen Falls Civic Center in Glen Falls in New York in 2005, according to records.
