Katy Perry has been flying high since she rose to pop stardom almost a decade ago, but sometimes she has trouble coming back down to earth.

Katy Perry brings the magic of music to the fans at Madison Square Garden in NYC Oct. 2 after acknowledging the victims of the Route 91 Harvest Festival shooting in Las Vegas.
The pop star experienced a stage malfunction during her Oct. 18 concert at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena when the planetoid prop she was sitting on got stuck dangling above the crowd, according to The Tennessean.
“I’m gonna be stuck up here forever,” Perry reportedly joked while she was suspended above the crowd. “This is the first time I’ve been stuck in space. I know I’m kind of a space cadet, but actually this thing is being stuck right now.”
The stage crew had to manually lower the Saturn-shaped prop to allow Perry to jump off from a safe height. The crowd cheered when she landed.
Technical issues persisted when a shooting star failed to appear in the next set piece.
But the pop star had plenty of stage tricks up her sleeve. One set featured Perry dunking herself through a basketball hoop, while another saw her signing while being swallowed by a massive pair of lips. She also powered through several hits, including “California Gurls,” Dark Horse,” “Teenage Dream” and “Hot N Cold.”
The show was the latest stop on Perry’s massive “Witness: The Tour.” The North American leg runs until February, with upcoming stops at the United Center in Chicago, Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Staples Center in Los Angeles and Pepsi Center in Denver. The pop star regular sells out shows, according to Pollstar‘s box office reports.
