Wilmington Council Awards Live Nation Contract
The Wilmington, N.C., City Council voted 5-1 Oct. 17 to award a contract to
Live Nation’s 10-year contract would include paying $200,000 in rent yearly, contributing $700,000 toward maintenance costs and investing $2 million toward furnishings, equipment and fixtures. A $2-per-ticket fee would go to the city, according to WilmingtonBiz.
The project master plan includes a performance space that could accommodate about 3,000 people with a stage complex. Designs for the facility are still in the works.
The city has already hired a landscape architecture firm to design the 6.6-acre park, estimated to cost about $20 million, and a construction management firm.
The voter-approved parks bond from last year will fund the construction and development of the park, WilmingtonBiz reported.
