Barca Wants Record Naming Rights

Spanish soccer club FC Barcelona asks its future stadium naming rights sponsor for euro 25 million per year over a contract period of 20 years.

FC Barcelona doesn’t deal in small sums. Having just sold one of its superstar players, Neymar, to Paris St. Germain for a whooping euro 222 million, the club is now reported to sell its future naming rights for the Camp Nou for euro 25 million per year.

This would break the current European naming rights price record of Arsenal London’s Emirates Stadium. The football club signed a euro 100 million deal over 15 years with the airline company in 2004.

Barcelona’s Camp Nou is going to be renovated by the year 2022 or 2023. The plan is to add a roof to the stadium and increase its capacity from 99,350 to 105,000 seats, including new VIP boxes.

The development is reported to cost between euro 400m and euro 600 million. It is said that the construction won’t affect soccer matches at the stadium. Building works have not yet commenced.
