Crocodile Rock To Be Demolished

Crocodile Rock Café in Allentown, Pa., faces demolition after being bought by a development company that intends to build a six-story, mixed-use residential and office building.

City Investment Corp. bought the building Sept. 5 for $1.6 million according to public documents.

A project manager for the developer told the local Morning Call that the building was scheduled for demolition the following week.

Crocodile Rock lost its liquor license in 2013, a decision that was upheld in 2014 when a judge found the venue hadn’t taken necessary steps to improve safety.

Shows were moved from the 880-capacity club in 2013, with promoter SLP Concerts saying it wasn’t a viable concert destination without a liquor license.

The judge upholding the decision not to renew the liquor license said the club was “disturbingly casual about the safety of its clients and the public,” and failed to “implement a single measure designed to increase exterior security,” according to court documents.

Crocodile Café’s last dates in Pollstar’s database were a handful of shows in 2015.
