Matisyahu Scatters ‘Broken Crowns’ Around US
The reggae-rap-rock phenom Matisyahu will be in the U.S. through the fall, as he has announced the “Broken Crowns Tour” with Common Kings and Orphan.

This tour marks the first time Common Kings have toured with Matisyahu, and also the first road appearances of Orphan, which is currently living with the headliner, is signed to his imprint – Fallen Sparks – and is making music out of his home.

Matisyahu is promoting his latest album, Undercurrent. He performs as part of a five-piece that blends his old stuff with singles off the latest album, and extended versions of songs that can run for more than 15 minutes. The author of this article was fortunate enough to be able to attend his performance in Fresno, Calif., last night and can give it a wholehearted stamp of approval.
Many will remember Matisyahu from when he rose to prominence as a reggae artist that performed in full Orthodox Jewish garb with the beard to match, but he abandoned that look in 2011.
