Print-At-Home Fee Still Undue

A regional appeal court in Bremen, Germany, decided that German ticketing giant Eventim couldn’t add a print-at-home fee to its ticket price, as printing a ticket at home did not cost the company.

The court thereby upheld a decision made by a Bremen’s district court in the first instance, which Eventim appealed. It intends to do the same with this new ruling.

The company’s head of corporate communications, Christian Steinhof, said the second appeal has already been lodged and that Eventim assumed the most recent ruling won’t stand in Germany’s federal supreme court, which will now handle the case. Both the regional and district courts had also declared Eventim’s “premium shipping” undue.

Eventim had charged ticket buyers for Eventim 2015 Germany tour euro 19.90 for the shipment of two tickets, and euro 29.90 for three to four tickets – another question the federal court will have to make a final decision on.

The regional consumer protection agency (Verbraucherzentrale NRW) says Eventim could be forced to pay back consumers that have been charged a print-at-home fee as well as “premium shipping” costs, should the federal court uphold the two previous courts’ decision.
