Kendrick Lamar Extends ‘The Damn. Tour’
Damn, dude. With the first leg of his North American “The Damn. Tour” sold out, Kendrick Lamar just added another batch of shows in August and early September.
The Live Nation-produced tour goes along with the rapper’s fourth studio album, Damn., which was released in April via Top Dawg Entertainment.
Rolling Stone’s Christopher R. Weingarten gives the album 4.5 stars. The review declares, “Seemingly exhausted with the burden of constantly pushing hip-hop forward into concept operas, electric Miles explosions and Flying Lotus electronic burbles, Damn. seemingly takes a classicist route to rap music. If To Pimp a Butterfly was the best rap album in 2015, Damn. is the platonic ideal of the best rap album of 1995, a dazzling display of showy rhyme skills, consciousness-raising political screeds, self-examination and bass-crazy-kicking.”
The next place to catch Lamar on stage is headlining Festival D’ete de Quebec at the Plains Of Abraham in Quebec City July 7.
“The Damn. Tour” launches July 12 at Phoenix’s Gila River Arena, followed by gigs in Dallas and Houston.
The new leg of dates begins Aug. 11 in Anaheim, Calif., with a show at the Honda Center. Stops on the routing include Kansas City, Saint Paul, Chicago, Toronto, Montreal and Nashville. The last city on the books is Miami, where Lamar will play AmericanAirlines Arena Sept. 2.
The tour features support from D.R.AM. The first leg of the tour also includes Travis Scott. Y.G. joins the tour Aug. 11.
A presale for American Express card members begins Thursday, May 18 at 10 a.m. Tickets go on sale to the general public Friday, May 20 at 10 a.m. All times local.
