King Crimson Reigns in North America

The rockers of King Crimson are ready to paint North America red with a month-long tour spanning, the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

The run kicks off in Seattle with three shows at Moore Theatre June 11-13, though the first night is apparently already sold out. From there the routing moves down the West Coast, through the Midwest, and closes the U.S. in Red Bank, N.J., July 9-10. The Canadian gigs are in Montreal, Toronto and Quebec City, Quebec, July 3, 5, and 7 respectively.

The band then has five shows planned in Mexico City, July 14-16 and 18-19.

The list of former King Crimson members is long, but the band is currently performing as an eight-piece. Four drummers – Pat Mastelotto, Gavin Harrison, Jeremy Stacey and Bill Reiflin – are complemented by Moore Theatre and Jakko Jakszyk on guitar, Tony Levin on bass and Mel Collins on sax. Jakszyk will also be handling the vocals for the gigs.

The show will no doubt explore different eras of King Crimson’s voluminous catalog, but will likely feature some of the tunes from the band’s forthcoming live EP. That release includes a version of the David Bowie classic “Heroes,” on which Fripp originally performed.
