$100M Ford Field Upgrade

The Detroit Lions have begun a $100 million renovation to Ford Field that team officials hope would make the 15-year-old stadium Super Bowl ready.

Team President Rod Wood says the stadium was due for a significant upgrade. Highlights of the renovations include 152-foot-wide videoboards on each end zone that will rank among the 10 largest in the NFL.

The facility’s original scoreboards were among the smallest in the league last season. Other improvements include revamping all suites and club space, updating the sound system and a rebranded Corner Bar. Improvements are expected to be complete in time for the 2017 NFL season.
