Galactic Orbits The U.S.

The band has dates booked from Feb. 2 at the Bourbon Theatre in Lincoln, Neb., to March 25 at the House of Blues in Chicago. Prior to this Galactic appears on the Jam Cruise departing out of Miami Jan. 20.

There are six acts joining Galactic on the new run: Con Brio, The Hip Abduction, The Bright Light Social Hour, Gene Evaro Jr., Andy Frasco & The U.N,, and funky Meters. Each night only has one support act listed, and a few shows will feature the band by itself.

The group already had a lot going on for the rest of 2016, as they play Varsity Theatre in Baton Rouge, La., tomorrow night and are then on the road until a Nov. 19 gig in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The band also has a pair of shows lined up Dec. 29 and 30 at PlayStation Theater in New York, and then performs on New Year’s Eve at Tipitina’s Uptown in its native New Orleans.

Galactic was featured as a Pollstar HotStar in 1999 and has been spreading its brand of funky jazz around the country for more than 20 years. The band released its tenth full-length project in 2015, Into The Deep. The album includes collaborations with Macy Gray, Mavis Staples, and Tipitina’s Uptown, among others.
