Treasure Island Navigates Stormy Weather
The Oct. 15-16 festival saw performances from headliners Ice Cube, Sigur Rós, James Blake, Young Thug, Glass Animals and Purity Ring.
The rain-or-shine festival did at one point begin allowing reentry to those who had left early. One worker was injured when high winds reportedly blew a large machine onto her.
“It’s a very specific and tightly scheduled festival,” Allen Scott, executive vice president for organizer Another Planet, told SFGate. “There were three artists who had weather delays to their travels coming in … but otherwise every other artist played. We’re pretty proud of that.”
Canceled acts included Flight Facilities and Duke Dumont. Other artists were rescheduled and had their set times reduced, to the annoyance of some fans, especially those who bought single-day passes for specific artists.
The hero of the day on Oct. 15, when the rains were the worst, was Oakland rapper Kamaiyah, who performed a double set in lieu of a delayed Young Thug.
