Changes: Tanya Tucker, John Mayer

It’s hospital time for Tanya Tucker as the country star receives treatment for an upper respiratory infection. Tucker became ill right before her planned Oct. 7 gig in Watertown, S.D.  The singer, who was a teen sensation when her 1972 single “Delta Dawn” raced up the charts, received treatment from local doctors before returning to Nashville.

The following dates have been postponed and will be rescheduled shortly:

Oct. 7 – Watertown, S.D., Dakota Sioux Casino & Hotel
Oct. 11 – Swift Current, Saskatchewan, Living Sky Casino
Oct. 12 – Whitecap, Saskatchewan, Dakota Dunes Casino
Oct. 14 – Fort Hall, Idaho, Fort Hall Casino
Oct. 15 – Pendleton, Ore., Wildhorse Resort & Casino
Oct. 16 – Airway Heights, Wash., Northern Quest Casino

Tucker is scheduled to resume her tour Oct. 22 when she plays the Renfro Valley Entertainment Center in Renfro Valley, Ky.

“I cannot apologize enough to all the fans who bought tickets and were looking forward to seeing us on the road,” Tucker said in a statement.  “I just feel terrible, but I’ll get even worse if I don’t take care of myself.  I love you all.”

The lineup for the official tribute to Prince planned for Oct. 13 at the Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, Minn., includes Stevie Wonder, Morris Day And The Time, Pussycat Dolls’ Nicole Scherzinger, Chaka Khan, Christina Aguilera, plus several of the honoree’s former bandmates.  Even Prince’s first wife, Mayte Garcia, will perform.

What the talent-filled event will not have is John Mayer.  Although Mayer, who has logged many touring miles with Dead & Company, was one of the first artists announced for the concert, word coming out of the Twin Cities is that he will not be appearing, according to the Star Tribune.

“Change of schedule for him,” promoter Randy Levy said.  “That’s about all we know.”
