Suits Rain On Levitation
Levitation was reportedly insured for weather cancellation, but Ben E. Keith Co. and Transmission Events separately claim they are owed money for the scrapped function.
Ben E. Keith paid $100,000 to be listed as a sponsor and says it was never refunded. It also says the contract guaranteed reimbursement in the case of a weather cancellation. Transmission helped promote and book the event and says not only is it owed more than $200,000 for the 2016 festival, but it is also still owed more than $70,000 from 2015. Both companies are suing for the amount owed as well as legal fees and interest.
Transmission is also throwing in breach of contract and constructive fraud, according to the American-Statesman. The Austin event was set to host Brian Wilson, Animal Collective, Flying Lotus and The Brian Jonestown Massacre. Levitation still put on a successful event in France in September.
