Changes: Maroon 5, Hurricane Hermine

Fans in Milwaukee, Cleveland, Montreal, Quebec City, Cincinnati, Albany and Buffalo will have to wait until late February or early March to see Maroon 5 take the stage.

The shows were originally scheduled between Sept. 21 and Oct. 1. The rest of the routing for the band’s fall tour is still in place. The outing begins Sept. 3 in San Antonio, Texas, and runs through Oct. 16 in Oakland, Calif.

“Even when you think you’ve planned everything perfectly sometimes life just kinda happens,” frontman Adam Levine said in a statement. “Soon Behati and I will be celebrating the birth of our first child and, as I’m sure you all understand, I need to be there but unfortunately this means some of Maroon 5’s upcoming shows need to be rescheduled. I know this might present an inconvenience to our fans out there and I apologize for this. I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone in the spring.”

Feb. 20 – Milwaukee, Wis., BMO Harris Bradley Center     
Feb. 22 – Cleveland, Ohio, Quicken Loans Arena    
Feb. 24 – Montreal, Quebec, Bell Centre      
Feb. 27 – Quebec City, Quebec, Centre Vidéotron  
March 3 – Cincinnati, Ohio, U.S. Bank Arena          
March 7 – Albany, N.Y., Times Union Center
March 8 – Buffalo, N.Y., First Niagara Center

Tickets for the original shows will be honored at the new gigs.

Although Hurricane Hermine has been downgraded to a tropical storm since crashing into Florida’s Panhandle at 1:30 a.m. EDT Friday, it has still rained out some weekend plans.

Governors in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia have declared states of emergency, according to the Associated Press and The Virginian-Pilot.

The Weather Channel reports, “The main concerns from Hermine Friday-early Saturday will be heavy rain, tropical storm-force wind gusts and isolated tornadoes in a swath from Florida to southeast Georgia, the Carolinas and southeast Virginia.”

In anticipation of the storm, the Florida Theatre in Jacksonville postponed Kenny G’s Sept. 1 show to Nov. 28. Previously purchased tickets will be honored in November.

Over in Panama City, Fla., organizers of Gulf Coast Jam called off the fourth annual event because of high winds and safety concerns. 

“With an excess of five inches of rain and sustained winds up to 40 miles-per-hour expected on Thursday night, the overnight wind storm will create a hazardous situation that requires the stage and festival tents to be taken down and secured,” the festival said in a statement posted on its website. “Even though the storm is expected to have passed the city by early Friday morning, there is not enough time necessary this weekend to reconstruct the festival venue and performance stage.”

The Sept. 2-4 festival at Frank Brown Park was supposed to feature performances from Brad Paisley, Brett Eldredge, Jake Owen, The Band Perry, Eric Church, Lynyrd Skynyrd and more.

Refunds are available or fans can opt to redeem their tickets at next year’s festival. Details will be posted next week at GulfCoastJam.com.

The storm has forced the American Music Festival in Virginia Beach, Va., to cancel some performances and move others to the Virginia Beach Convention Center.

Friday’s show featuring 311, Ozomatli and RDGLDGRN has been nixed. A post on the festival’s website says Chris Janson and Kevin Mac will put on a free show at 24th Street Stage “weather permitting.”

Saturday’s show with UB40 feat. Ali Campbell, Mickey & Astro, The Wallflowers, and Cracker is now happening at the Virginia Beach Convention Center. All other Saturday gigs have been called off.

Sunday’s main stage concert featuring Culture Club, The Romantics, and Groves has also been moved to the convention center. A decision about Sunday’s scheduled free concerts will be made on Saturday.

Speaking of Virginia Beach, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band is scheduled to play the Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheatre At Virginia Beach Sept. 3.

The venue posted an announcement on its Facebook pagehttps://www.facebook.com/vabeachamp/posts/10153683284225736 around 12 p.m. EDT today saying the show is “going on as planned – please follow our FB page for up to date information.”

Less Than Jake’s Friday show at the High Dive in Gainseville, Fla., is also still on. A tweet from the venue says, “Just a little rain in dwntwn @ Gainseville No biggie!”

The same goes for The Heavy Pets/Surfer Blood show at The Crowbar in Tampa, Fla. The venue posted on Facebook, “Rain or shine, it’s gonna be a party.”  

Pollstar confirmed with a rep at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center that Low Country Jazz Festival is going on rain or shine. The Sept. 2-4 event features Brian Culbertson, Dave Koz, David Sanborn and more.

Concerts fans in Hawaii are also keeping an eye on the weather report.

ABC News reports, “The islands of Oahu, Maui, Lanai, Molokai and Kahoolawe were under a hurricane watch Friday as Hurricane Lester surged closer to the islands.”

Boulder Creek Entertainment told Pollstar that The Beach Boys’ Sept. 2 show in Lihue, Hawai, is still on. The band is also scheduled to play Honolulu Sept. 3 and Waikoloa Sept. 4.
