From the event's Facebook page: "Fair gates are closed to incoming traffic due to flooded roads. Please do not travel to the Fairgrounds at this time. If you are on the grounds please seek shelter in the nearest storm shelter."
Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo and Melissa Etheridge were scheduled to perform the canceled event. The National Weather Service reported 5.59 inches of rain fell within two hours breaking the previous record of 5.44 inches Sept. 8, 1926.
Flash flooding in some areas was up to five feet deep. The Red Cross rescued people from at least five campers. No injuries were reported.
The state fair runs Aug. 11-21. Other acts scheduled to perform over the 11-day event include Meghan Trainor, Jake Owen, KISS, Dierks Bentley, ZZ Top and For King & Country.
