Jon Bellion Books Fall Tour
Pollstar chatted with the New York-based singer/songwriter and producer in fall 2014 as he prepared to embark on his debut headline tour. Before that point he had only played three shows, including an opening slot for Kanye West at Wireless Festival.
It would be an understatement to say that his third headline tour, which began in early June, is going well. Bellion posted a photo from the stage on his Facebook page July 14 with the caption, “Every single show on this tour has been sold out. Humbled.” The same goes for this week’s events at Toronto’s The Hoxton and New York’s Webster Hall.
Bellion is a talented songwriter and producer, having co-written and produced “Trumpets” for Jason Derulo and Rihanna’s part on Eminem’s “The Monster.” He’s earned plenty of praise for his own music, with Complex calling his latest tunes “nothing short of impressive” and TIME talking up his “smooth pop vocals over pulsing hip-hop beats.”
After putting out several mixtapes, he released the album The Definition as a free download in 2014.
He explained to Pollstar, “I don’t want to ask anybody to pay for an album until I made one of the greatest albums for free.”
In June the time had come to share his first-ever commercially released album with the world. And fans got out their wallets. The Human Condition hit No. 5 on the Nielsen SoundScan albums chart and No. 2 for vinyl sales. Singles include “All Time Low,” which has more than 57 million streams and “Guillotine” (feat. Travis Mendes), which debut at No. 10 on the Spotify U.S. Viral chart.
