PromoWest Venue Plan

PromoWest Productions continues to work with city and county officials to build an indoor/outdoor concert pavilion in Cincinnati.

The Banks, a mixed-use development under construction on land between  and , was the original preferred location but that situation changed.

Company President and CEO Scott Stienecker told Pollstar the venue’s location is still under discussion.

“We’ve been working on this for three years now with The Banks people. We originally had a 4-acre piece of land but they ended up going to the city to get a variance to go over 100 feet in the air. They were going to do condos or something different, so we lost that piece,” Stienecker said. “But when they started to do Phase III, they contacted us.”

Stienecker said his company moved forward on the plan until he got word that The Banks steering committee turned down the plan for the outdoor portion of the venue.

“We were disappointed and started looking around for other areas downtown,” he said. The project would build a venue like PromoWest’s  in Columbus, Ohio, and the  in Pittsburgh. The PromoWest concept is about 2,400-capacity indoors and 5,200-capacity outdoors.

PromoWest has since located some land north of Cincinnati as an alternative site but Stienecker is still interested in making the downtown plan work.

“We have a great rapport with the mayor, the parks department and the County so we’d rather do the project in downtown Cincinnati,” he said.
