King Expands Worldwide Procession

R&B trio King has extended its international tour into September with shows scheduled in the U.S., Europe and Japan.

Festivals will be a big part of the routing. The first date on the new schedule is  June 3 in Columbus, Md. and the following performances, including an appearance as a special guest of Stevie Wonder at , conclude with a Sept. 20 show in Honolulu, Hawaii. A number of other festivals are also on the itinerary, including  in Oslo, Norway and  in Osaka, Japan.

The songbirds launched the inaugural album We Are KING in February, and have since been collaborating with the likes of Wonder, Robert Glasper and Corrine Bailey Rae.

King’s music is produced by band-member Paris Strother, while her twin sister Amber and Anita Bias do most of the heavy vocal lifting. We Are KING has gotten positive reviews in Pitchfork, NPR and The Guardian.

The band started making waves with its debut EP in 2011, The Story, which led to a tour opening for Prince. A listen to the meticulously layered production and creative harmonies make it obvious why King is sitting so high.

“It’s been incredible to perform the new album in front of new audiences around the world, and we’re thrilled to be heading out for more shows this summer,” King said via press release. “We’ve been so inspired by touring and meeting new friends and fans, and are enjoying every moment of making the stage a home for these songs.”
