Music Venue Trust Touring Wales
Noise complaints, funding shortages and licensing conditions make life hard for venues all over the world, and Wales is no exception. People from across the live sector, including the Music Venue Trust and partner organizations like the Musicians’ Union, UK Music and Attitude is Everything, are expected to speak at the event.
“As a UK-wide organisation it’s important for us to emphasise that we represent grassroots music venues from across Britain,” said Beverley Whitrick, strategic director of Music Venue Trust. The event in Wales will also help recruit more members for the Music Venues Alliance, which was created by the Music Venue Trust to pool resources, share good practice examples and demonstrate the reach and importance of British grassroots music venues.
Jo Dipple, CEO of UK Music, pointed out that “music tourism generated £95m towards the Welsh economy in 2014, whilst attracting over 211,000 music fans to live music events.”
The first Welsh Venues Meeting is free to attend for representatives of grassroots music venues. Places, as well as travel bursaries, can be requested at [email protected].
