Goo Goo Dolls frontman John Rzeznik recently filmed a call with the band’s production coordinator Dan Cooper for the latest episode of Live Nation’s “Backstage With Crew Nation” video series. 

The series, which highlights relationships between touring artists and members of the backstage crew who help bring the shows to life, is featured on Live Nation’s new virtual music hub Live From Home. The hub also includes daily live streams, performances and new music, helping fans stay connected to their favorite artists during these trying times.  
With concerts on pause during the COVID-19 pandemic, Live Nation is showing its support to touring and venue crews whose livelihood is affected by the shutdown with the Crew Nation fund, powered by charitable 501c3 organization Music Forward Foundation. The company has contributed an initial $5 million to the fund, and promised to match the next $5 million in donations for a total of $10 million.  
“Crew Nation is caring for many of the unsung heroes of the music industry,” Rzeznik told Pollstar. “Without crews, there would be no shows. We hope people can be generous and support in any capacity they can right now.” 
In the video posted below Rzeznik introduces Cooper by saying, “He does everything, that’s the only way I can describe what he does.” As production coordinator, Cooper runs “everything backstage.” He also contributes on a creative level, including helping with a photoshoot for the band’s 2019’s album, Miracle Pill. 

Cooper spent 12 years working as a principal performer in Blue Man Group. He’s also worked in experience designer and as a video producer and project manager, consulting for companies and clients including Post Modern Jukebox and Creative Arts Academy.
John has recently put on livestream performances to support Crew Nation, along with charity efforts including Global Citizen, MusiCares and WE LOVE LOCA, a  local New Jersey initiative to support small businesses affected by the pandemic.
The “Backstage with Crew Nation” series began with a video of The Head and the Heart’s Jon Russell in conversation with their front of house engineer Tim Smiley. 

Goo Goo Dolls is scheduled to hit the road in July, started with a July 2 show at Riverwind Casino in Norman, Okla. Dates are booked through early September, wrapping with a Sept. 5 show at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. 

Box office reports submitted to Pollstar for Goo Goo Dolls include a Jan. 29 show at Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Fla., that sold 1,489 tickets and grossed $108,945.
