Independent Promoter Alliance Launches To Combat COVID-19
– Dave Poe
In light of COVID-19 and its dire effects on the live music industry, Dave Poe, founder of indie promoter and music company Patchwork Presents, and Jessica Gordon, longtime talent buyer and co-owner of promotion company Broadberry Entertainment Group, have formed the Independent Promoter Alliance, which has launched with more than 100 members.
“There’s definitely a feeling right now that we’re all on the same team and that the only way we are going to get to the other side of this is by working together,” Patchwork Presents’ Dave Poe adds. “We believe the light on the other side of this can eventually be brighter than the light before it. We invite all independent promoters, talent buyers, and venue owners to join our alliance to discuss the best ways forward for the live touring industry during this pandemic and beyond.” The goal of the alliance is to talk regularly about current challenges and how individual businesses plan to work through the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Independent Promoter Alliance is urging all who are interested in joining to register here. The joining members has not been made public yet.
Patchwork was formed recently as a partnership with Oakland-based Ineffable Music Group, which puts on more than 2,000 shows per year and books shows at California venues including The Catalyst in Santa Cruz, Cornerstone in Berkeley and the Mystic Theatre in Petaluma and led in part by president of the company Thomas Cussins. Patchwork handles talent buying at venues including the Criterion in Oklahoma City and recently added Masonic Temple in Cleveland.
