Rage Against The Machine Announces ‘Public Service Announcement Tour’ With Run The Jewels

Following multiple festival announcements, including Coachella and Firefly, Rage Against the Machine has unveiled the routing for a reunion tour.

The rap-rock iconoclasts will trek throughout North America from March through August for the “Public Service Announcement Tour,” and will be joined for most dates by hip-hop duo Run The Jewels. (Incidentally, Rage Against the Machine singer Zach de la Rocha has featured on Run the Jewels’ last two albums.)

The “Public Service Announcement Tour” represents Rage’s first concerts since 2011. The band last performed at Los Angeles’ L.A. Rising, a festival held at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on July 30, 2011, where Rage headlined a bill that also included Ms. Lauryn Hill, Muse and Rise Against, sold 53,639 tickets and grossed $4.89 million. This is Rage’s first proper tour since a short European stint in June 2010; it last toured the U.S. in 2008.

The tour’s North American leg begins at Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Texas on March 26, and concludes at New York’s Madison Square Garden Aug. 10-11. Along the way, it’ll hit venues including Minneapolis’ Target Center (May 11), Detroit’s Little Caesars Arena (July 13) and Washington, D.C.’s Capital One Arena (Aug. 4).

RATM and RTJ will then head overseas for a brief European tour that will hit the United Kingdom, France, Ireland, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Poland and Austria from Aug. 28 to Sept. 12. Rage’s European dates include festival plays at Leeds, Reading, Lollapalooza Berlin and more.

Rage has pledged to work with charities and activist organizations through its tour, including at the El Paso, Texas, and Phoenix stops, where all proceeds will benefit immigrant rights organizations.

While Rage Against The Machine hasn’t toured for nearly a decade, its members have remained active, through Prophets Of Rage, the short-lived supergroup that featured Rage instrumentalists alongside B-Real, DJ Lord and Chuck D, and through guitarist Tom Morello’s solo touring as The Nightwatchman and, more recently, under his own name.
