George Strait Crowned No. 1 On LIVE75 Chart

George Strait debuts at No. 1 on Pollstar‘s LIVE75 chart as the week’s “Hot Shot” artist on the strength of the two most recent performances of his “Strait to Vegas” concert residency at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The country star appeared at the arena on Dec. 3-4, racking up a $4.1 million box-office take from 30,350 sold seats over both nights. As the 31st and 32nd performances of his residency that began in April 2016, the shows raise his overall ticket count there to 527,072 for a total gross of $75.4 million.

Scoring “Heavy Hitter” status for a second week is Andrea Bocelli with a gross average of $2.24 million from concerts in December at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, Boston’s TD Garden, New York’s Madison Square Garden and Amway Center in Orlando, Fla. The New York arena welcomed the tenor for two nights while the other venues hosted him for single performances.
Brian McKnight, No. 58, repeats as the “Breakthrough” artist for a second week with a ticket average of 416 from five sellouts, the most of any artist outside the top 25 tours on the chart. Four of his sold-out shows were in November at Chicago’s City Winery with a ticket total of 1,216, while a December sellout at Hollywood Casino in Columbus, Ohio drew 864 attendees.
“Noise Maker” Kathleen Madigan jumps 13 positions from her ranking in the previous issue, landing at No. 35 with a two-show ticket average of 1,102. Her appearance at No. 48 one week ago was based on a four-show average of 754.

“Hot Shot” is the highest charting new Active Tour.

“Noise Maker” is the Active Tour with biggest positive chart gain from previous week.

“Breakthrough” is the Active Tour showing a ticket sales breakthrough by packing the house.

“Heavy Hitter” designates the artist with the highest average gross on the chart.
