Waking Windows Announces 2022 Lineup Headlined By Japanese Breakfast and Dinosaur Jr.

Waking Windows will be returning to downtown Winooski, Vt., May 13-15. With the announcement of the festival’s 2022 edition, Waking Windows revealed its lineup, which is topped by Japanese Breakfast and Dinosaur Jr. 

The bill also includes Kikagaku Moyo, Vagabon, Dry Cleaning, The Nude Party, Rich Wilson, Alex Cameron, Yasmin Williams, Habibi, Rough Francis, The Ophelias, Moon King, Stuyedeyed, The Cush, Paper Castles, Disco Phantom, Mal Maiz, Dari Bay, Father Figure, Guy Ferrari, Ivamae, Kafari, Lily Seabird, Omega Jade, Roost.World, Swale, The Burning Sun, The Wet Ones! and Wren Kitz. 

Next year marks the first time Waking Windows will return following the COVID-19 pandemic, after canceling its 2020 and 2021 editions. The festival will host showcases and art installations in addition to live performances. Details regarding the showcases and art installations, as well as additions to the lineup, will be announced in 2022.

Tune-Yards and Twin Peaks headlined the most recent version of Waking Windows, held in May 2019.

Japanese Breakfast released their third studio album, Jubilee, in June. The band’s Oct. 30 show at White Oak Music Hall in Houston grossed $41,733, according to reports submitted to Pollstar‘s Boxoffice, while their two nights at Chicago’s Thalia Hall, Oct. 11-12, grossed a total of $65,616. The same month, Japanese Breakfast sold out Brooklyn’s 1,800-capacity Brooklyn Steel four times over.

Dinosaur Jr. released their 12th album, Sweep It Into Space, in April, and was expected to kick off their 2021 tour dates in support of the album in September. However, the band wound up postponing their September and October dates due to the rise of the Delta variant. They proceeded with their November dates, which saw them performing in Nashville, Atlanta, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Brooklyn, Boston and more. Dinosaur Jr. will embark on the second leg of their North American tour starting Feb. 3 at Pappy & Harriet’s Pioneertown Palace in Pioneertown, Calif., with stops following in Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco and more before wrapping at Ogden Theatre in Denver on Feb. 26. In March, the band will then be heading to Europe

Passes for the three-day festival are now available via Eventbrite starting at $75. Fans of the festival can also pickup passes in person and without fees at Monkey House, Pure Pop Records and Autumn Records.
