Foreigner Fundraises With Special Merch To Support Crew
Foreigner has set up a special fundraising effort with vintage t-shirts, items from the canceled 2020 tour and exclusive collectible merch, all to support its crew, which has been out of work for nearly a year.
“Our crew means a lot to us. Not only are they family but they are just amazing,” Jeff Pilson, bassist for Foreigner recently told KTLA-TV. “They deserve the best possible treatment so we are going to do our best to try to make it happen.”
A special section of the band’s website is now set up to directly benefit the band’s crew with the sale of Foreigner face masks, Pilson’s signed Breedlove Guitar Set, Kelly Hansen’s guitar set, lithographed and signed lyrics for “I Want To Know What Love Is,” and other special vintage merch the band had stored away.
Pilson told KTLA-5 that several vendors like D’Addario and Audix also donated gear like strings and microphones to be auctioned off for Foreigner’s crew.
Jägermeister, which uses the Foreigner song “Cold As Ice,” in an NHL-oriented campaign, made a substantial donation to the Sweet Relief fund for unemployed crew personnel as a part of the initiative.
The live entertainment business has essentially been shut down for almost an entire year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. While Congress passed a $900 billion federal aid package in December to help many businesses adversely affected by the pandemic, and that package did include the $15 billion Save Our Stages Act, many small businesses and contractors remain on the precipice of collapse.
