Sonar Benefits From Re-Jig

Barcelona’s Sonar Festival benefited by switching to its new daytime site at Fira Montjuïc, pulling an average of more than 15,000 people per day.

The nighttime Sónar sessions pulled an average of 25,000 to see acts including Kraftwerk, Pet Shop Boys, and Skrillex, resulting in a total three-day attendance of 121,600.

Last year the festival that describes itself as “the essential meeting point for an alert public” pulled 98,000 across three days.

Unless the market proves to make make light of the country’s austerity measures, Sonar may have lodged an early claim as Spain’s largest festival of 2013.

Other acts helping Sonar set a benchmark June 13-15 were Paul KalkbrennerRichie HawtinJurassic 5Two Door Cinema Club, and Soulwax.
