DJ Mehdi Dies In Roof Fall
Early reports suggest part of his Paris home collapsed and that three other people were hospitalised in the same incident.
Mehdi, 34, and real name Mehdi Favéris-Essadi, became known internationally as a DJ and hip-hop producer. One of his last performances was at the UK’s Bestival on the Isle Of Wight on the weekend before his death.
Born in France of Tunisian background, Mehdi began mixing records in his early teens. He became the DJ for several French hip-hop acts before signing for cross-genre label Ed Banger Records.
Mehdi released The Story of Espion” his first full-length album, in 2002. He followed up with Lucky Boy in 2006.
More recently, he had been part of a group of friends and DJs collectively known as “Club 75,” which includes Cassius, Busy P and Xavier de Rosnay.
Mehdi was married to well-known French artist and model Fafi.
