Ridge Fest Canceled

The second Ridge Fest at Hants County Exhibition Grounds in Windsor, Nova Scotia, Aug. 5-6 was abruptly canceled a few days prior because of low ticket sales.

Ridge Fest coordinator Kevin Brown said in an Aug. 3 statement the concert featuring Blue Rodeo, Jimmy Rankin, Chilliwack and The Northern Pikes had sold only 500 tickets of 2,500 needed for the event to go forward.

“Even after a well-supported and fantastically executed multimonth marketing campaign, we regret that due to very low ticket sales, it is simply not feasible to stage the event,” the statement said.

Sponsor Lay Chin, owner of T.A.N. Cafes, told the Chronicle Herald she was caught off guard regarding the cancellation.

Chin said four of her outlets sold 150 tickets valued at about $7,000 and that she’s absorbing the loss for the refunds because event organizers had collected some of that money.

“I don’t have the money from the ticket sales. I will have to take the loss … We’re victims in this too,” she said.

However, Brown told the paper, “People need to be patient. Please know that we’re working to the best of our abilities to resolve any remaining issues.”
