Five Star Summerjam
Klaus Maack is happy to report his fifth Summerjam sellout in a row was one of the most easy-going he’s enjoyed, and free of the natural and political problems the German reggae fest has faced in the past.
There were no gay rights activists protesting about Jamaican dancehall acts. The weather, which caused temporary closure of the site in 2009, stayed fine throughout the weekend.
All 28,000 tickets had gone before the first act played, leaving Maack to enjoy what was apparently a relatively stress-free weekend.
The acts helping the Contour chief to chill July 1-3 included Jimmy Cliff, Youssou N’Dour, Culcha Candela, Lee “Scratch” Perry, Dub Inc., and Madcon.
