Rimrock’s Insurance Settlement
With just weeks until the grand re-opening of the Rimrock Auto Arena at MetraPark, officials in Billings, Mont., recently nailed down an insurance settlement for the venue, which had its roof torn off by a tornado last summer.
Yellowstone County commissioners and insurer Affiliated FM reportedly approved a $28.3 million settlement May 31, according to the Billings Gazette. Affiliated FM has already paid $21.5 million toward the settlement.
“I believe they covered all the costs the policy covered,” Yellowstone finance director Scott Turner told the Gazette, adding that he appreciated how Affiliated “stepped up to the plate. We had nothing but a good, excellent working relationship with the company.”
The county is also reportedly chipping in $6.5 million of its own money on improvements to the venue, which include a new sound system with acoustical panels on the walls and ceilings, new and bigger concession stands, more bathrooms, new heating and cooling units and more efficient lighting.
Officials said previously that some events would take place during ongoing construction at the arena.
