TG Goes To BMG
Danish publisher TG has sold 50 percent of its catalogue to Germany’s BMG Rights Management and the Berlin-based company will also sub-publish the rest of its songs.
TG Publishing is a 25-year-old publishing and production company operating in Demark and Sweden. It has 20 songwriters including Aqua, Me & My, Tiggy, Smile.Dk, Dr. Bombay, Chipz, Elize, Kato and DJ Ötzi. It also has seven studios spread across the two countries.
“We are convinced that we have done the perfect match entering into partnership with Thomas Scherer and Niclass Björlund from BMG Rights Management,” said TG chief exec John Aagaard.
“This setup with BMG’s worldwide pro-active sales force and administration services gives TG Publishing the liberty to be even more creative.
“It gives us more time to be involved in developing new artists, at the same time we can give our producers and songwriters the best possible and strongest team around them to get their music released around the world.”
BMG Rights Management is a joint venture between German media giant Bertelsmann and U.S. private equity firm KKR.
Its recent acquisition spree, which includes American publishers Adage IV and Cherry Lane Music Publishing and French publishers Music Addict and Editions PRK Music, has led to speculation that it may be a potential bidder for EMI Music Publishing.
