Freedom For George Michael
“I just want to start again. You’re going to be seeing a lot more from me,” he said, after being released from Highpoint Prison, Suffolk, and returning to his London home.
“By the way, I’ve just thought of a really good idea for a song and it’s got nothing to do with prison,” he added.
Michael reportedly told friends he will try to cut back on his cannabis use, which apparently sees him smoking seven to eight joints a day.
“He didn’t touch any in prison, which is encouraging,” one unnamed source told the Daily Mirror. “It’s a bit of a problem when combined with other medication but he knows thats got to change. He’s really focused on putting the past behind him.”
The former Wham singer was jailed for eight weeks Sept. 14 and hit with a $1,930 fine. The judge also banned him from driving for five years.
He was found guilty of being in possession of drugs and also under the influence when he crashed his Range Rover into a Snappy Snaps photo store in Hampstead, north London, July 4.
In February 2006 Michael was found slumped at the wheel of his car at London’s Hyde Park Corner. Two months later he hit three parked cars while trying to pull out of a parking space, resulting in the singer admitting he is “a terrible driver.”
In October of that same year he was found slumped over the wheel of his car, blocking an intersection. He pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of drugs and was sentenced to community service.
