Cécillon Really Useful

Andrew Lloyd Webber has appointed former EMI Music International chairman and chief exec Jean-François Cécillon as vice chairman of his Really Useful Group.

Cécillon, who ran EMI Records Group in the U.K. in the ’90s, has been hired to run the global launch of “Love Never Dies,” the forthcoming sequel to “The Phantom Of The Opera.”

He was chief exec for videogame company Sega Europe between 1998 to 2001, where he oversaw the launch of the Dreamcast game console, before moving on to become chairman of the Music Matrix, the British marketing firm that produced the “46664” AIDS awareness and fund-raising campaign.

He returned to EMI in 2004, when company chairman Alain Levy brought him back to be president for continental Europe.
Cécillon departed the company for a second time in July 2008, part of a shuffle that saw him replaced by Billy Mann and David Kassler.

In his new role, he’ll report directly to Lloyd Webber and work alongside André Ptaszynski, Really Useful Group’s chief exec and one of the producers of “Love Never Dies.”

Lloyd Webber said Cécillon’s proven track record as a global executive, particularly in marketing, digital and music, will be invaluable for the group.
