Bahama Bailout

A Bahamian promoter accused of assaulting a reggae artist at gunpoint has reportedly been freed on $15,000 bail.

Promoter Trevor Alexander Davis of Alpha Sounds Entertainment was taken into police custody and charged with armed robbery and causing harm after night-of-show negotiations stalled with Jamaican reggae artist Chuck Fenda (real name: Leshorn Whitehead).

Whitehead was booked to perform at Beach Fest in Nassau to backing tracks August 18th. When Whitehead arrived in the Bahamas before the show, the promoter discussed using a live band and Whitehead upped his price, the Nassau Guardian reported.

But Davis and Whitehead never came to an agreement and the performance never took place.

Whitehead alleged he was later jumped and robbed by the promoter and members of his entourage at gunpoint of a platinum chain, Movado watch and $300 cash during a dispute over the return of the artist’s deposit.

Davis is set to return to court for preliminary inquiries October 1st, according to the Guardian.
