Sum 41 and Simple Plan announce co-headlining “Blame Canada Tour”

Sum 41 and Simple Plan have announced they will begin embarking on their co-headlining “Blame Canada Tour” this spring. The 36-date run kicks off in Raleigh, N.C. on Apr. 29 with stops in Philadelphia, New York, Detroit, Cleveland, Chicago, Nashville, Atlanta, San Francisco, Seattle and more before wrapping up at The Fillmore in Denver on Aug. 18.

“The Blame Canada Tour” will mark the first time Sum 41 and Simple Plan are embarking on the road together, with both bands celebrating the 20th anniversary of their debut albums, Sum 41’s All Killer No Filler and Simple Plan’s No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls.

“We’re so happy to finally be able to play shows again and couldn’t be more excited to head out on the ‘Blame Canada’ tour with Sum 41,” Simple Plan shared in a statement. “It’s hard to believe this will be the first time we will co-headline a tour together, but the timing couldn’t be better as we both celebrate the 20th anniversary of our debut albums!”

The first leg of the tour will feature support from Set It Off, while the second leg beginning on July 29 will see support from Magnolia Park. Simple Plan recently released the single “Ruin My Life” featuring vocals from Sum 41 lead singer, Deryck Whimbley.

“We have known the guys in Simple Plan for a very long time and know these shows are going to be great,” Sum 41 frontman Whibley said in a statement. “We cannot wait to hit the road with them! We have a lot of fans in common and we know they have waited for this for a very, very long time! After not being able to tour for almost 2 years due to the pandemic, we’re gonna go out there and play our hearts out, enjoy every second of being on these stages and we’ll make sure everyone in the crowd has the time of their lives!”

Sum 41 joined Park Live in Moscow, Russia last July for a single night along with Creeper, My Chemical Romance, and Neck Deep. Ahead of the pandemic, the band managed to embark on a European tour that saw stops in Milan, Vienna, Berlin, and more. The band grossed $204/422 for thier show in Milan, $170,498 for their show in Berlin, and $230,877 for their performance in Munich, according to Pollstar Boxoffice reports.

Meanwhile, Simple Plan hit the road for the first time since the pandemic for their own headlining run alongside New Found Glory from September through October. The band is currently on the road with The Offspring, which has so far seen them make stops in Toronto, Ottawa, and more.

Tickets for the upcoming “Blame Canada Tour” will begin to go on sale on Feb. 25 at 10 a.m. local via the bands’ official websites. A portion of each ticket sale will go towards the Simple Plan Foundation and Sweet Relief’s COVID-19 Fund.
