who once again tops the APX chart, performs onstage during her “Future Nostalgia Tour” at FTX Arena in Miami on Feb. 9, 2022.
Dua Lipa makes it two in a row as she retains her No. 1 ranking on the Artist Power Index for a second week after a strong showing at the box-office on her recently launched world tour. Sales figures from the first five arena dates on the schedule have been reported to Pollstar showing grosses hitting $6.2 million with an overall sold-ticket count of 64,026. That’s an average of 12,805 sold seats per show which earns her a two-position jump on LIVE75 to No. 4. On APX, she has the fourth highest Live rank and takes sixth in both Streaming and Airplay.
Miami’s FTX Arena hosted her opening night performance on Feb. 9 and produced the trek’s best box-office results so far with a sellout crowd numbering 14,557 and a $1.56 million gross. Her tour, like most others with plans for a 2020 launch, was subsequently rescheduled multiple times during the pandemic. It supports her Future Nostalgia album, released in March of 2020 and certified Platinum less than one year later.
Justin Bieber makes his first APX appearance (No. 2) with the kick-off of his “Justice” world tour that began at San Diego’s Pechanga Arena on Feb. 18. He earns the 35th Live rank on the strength of performances at only the first two venues on the tour, so his ranking should jump on future charts with a full 30-day period of concerts counted. Adding to his Live result are a third place showing on Streaming, the No. 1 Airplay rank and a Social score of 10.
It’s a three-peat for country headliner Eric Church, No. 1 on LIVE75 for a third consecutive week based on ticket sales from his eight “Gather Again” tour dates during February. With sellouts in all eight arenas, he moved 122,617 tickets for an average of 15,327 to retain the top spot.
That’s just 400 more tickets than Bad Bunny who lands at No. 2 after debuting in the previous issue as the “Hot Shot” touring artist. The Puerto Rican rapper was also the “Heavy Hitter” in his first LIVE75 appearance and hangs on to that status for a second week with an 11-show gross average topping $3 million, the highest of any artist on the chart. His top box-office take at one venue is a whopping $9.3 million recorded at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif., from 32,568 sold seats at shows Feb. 25-26. The two-show total currently stands as the highest gross for a single engagement by any artist since the beginning of January.
On the Artist Power Index, Bad Bunny drops from second place to No. 4 overall, yet he scores the highest Live rank of the week and is also No. 1 in Social. In the latter category, Chartmetric’s tallies have had him at No. 1 four times and No. 2 once during the past five weeks.
Elton John debuts on LIVE75 with the “Hot Shot” tour of the week based on a ticket average of 14,281 from three stops on the first 2022 leg of his “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour that runs stateside through the end of April. With box-office figures from recent shows added to his tour’s overall counts, worldwide grosses now surpass $365 million from over 2.7 million sold tickets during the multiple-year run.
A 27-position leap gives Newsboys the “Noise Maker” tag and earns the Christian rock band the No. 39 ranking with an 11-show ticket average of 1,375, while rocker Goth Babe (No. 47) is the “Breakthrough” artist on LIVE75 with seven sellouts reported at six venues. His biggest crowd was at Roseland Theater in Portland, Ore., on Feb. 4 with an attendance of 1,360 and gross of $ 31,795. Goth Babe’s February shows also included sold-out dates in Boston, Washington and Brooklyn.
