Lyrical Lemonade Summer Smash Unveils 2022 Lineup
Post Malone, Playboi Carti, and a joint set between Young Thug and Gunna have been announced as the headliners for Lyrical Lemonade’s Summer Smash 2022. Due to kick off on June 17 with the festival returning to Chicago, the three-day event has been growing steadily over the years.
2018 saw the festival take place over a single day with 11,000 people. By the time Summer Smash could return in 2021, it had grown to three days with an expected 30,000 per day. ast year had seen more than 80 artists performing, with this year promising to be bigger than ever.
“Today marks an exciting milestone for Summer Smash as we unveil our biggest music lineup to date,” festival director Berto Solorio said in a statement. “It’s been incredible to witness our fest grow into one of the largest annual music events in the country in only four short years.”
Wiz Khalifa, Polo G, Trippie Redd, 2 Chainz, Ski Mask The Slumb God, Lil Tecca, G Herbo, Yeat, $not, Rico Nasty, Lil Skies, Lucki, Bia, Nardo Wick, Flo Milli, and Key Glock are just a few among those names already announced for 2022’s event.
Yung Thug and Gunna are set to headline the event on June 17, with Post Malone taking to the stage on June 18. Playboi Carti will then be closing out the show on June 19.
“Our team is always striving to improve and elevate the festival experience, so we can’t wait to show our fans what we have in store this summer including bigger music acts performing on bigger stages, plus more food trucks, improved amenities, nad more art installations than ever before,” Solorio continued in a statement. “We’ve leveled up the entire experience.”
The Summer Smash team prides themselves on being Chicago born and bred, however, Cole Bennett, the man behind Lyrical Lemonade, told Pollstar in 2021 of the possibility that ’22 could see multiple events.
Post Malone took the stage at Governors Ball, Reading & Leeds, Lollapalooza, and Rolling Loud last year. The rapper last went on tour in 2020, right before the pandemic shut everything down, and grossed $1.8 million for his performance at Denver’s Pepsi Center on Mar. 12, 2020, according to reports submitted to Pollstar’s Boxoffice.
Playboi Carti headlined a show at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena last December, grossing $570390, according to reports submitted to Pollstar’s Boxoffice.
