For two decades, the festival sector has been a key indicator of the live industry’s health, reflecting the ups and downs of the broader business. So, what do the scores of festivals announced for spring, summer and fall 2022 – many new, many returning to their normal calendar slots and others still celebrating their first post-lockdown editions – represent? Pollstar devoted its April 11 issue to the 2022 festival season, with special features including a survey from industry pros, a guest post from Roots N Blues co-owner/producer Tracy Lane, and a cover story on Halsey who is headlining festivals around the globe including Governors Ball, Hangout, Fuji Rock, Reading and Leeds, Firefly and Festival d’été de Québec.
