ICM Partners Signs Reggae Legend Jimmy Cliff In All Areas

ICM Partners has signed Rock & Roll Hall Of Famer and reggae founding father Jimmy Cliff for representation across all areas, the agency announced.

Cliff, in addition to being one of Jamaica’s greatest humanitarians and musical exports, was the force behind “The Harder They Come,” the landmark 1972 film that helped introduce reggae to the world. ICM plans to market a sequel to “The Harder They Come,” Cliff’s documentary and a memoir as well as his global touring.

Cliff is the creator of immortal anthems “I Can See Clearly Now,” “Wonderful World, Beautiful People,” “You Can Get It If You Really Want,” “The Harder They Come,” and many more reggae standards. In addition to receiving the Order of Merit, his country’s highest honor, Cliff holds the distinction of being one of two Jamaican Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees, along with the late, great Bob Marley.

Cliff has been sought for collaborations by the Rolling Stones and Elvis Costello to Annie Lennox and Paul Simon, while Bruce Springsteen, Willie Nelson, Cher, New Order, and Fiona Apple have recorded notable covers. Bob Dylan famously proclaimed Cliff’s “Vietnam,” as “the greatest protest song ever written.”

Cliff earned the 2012 Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album for Rebirth, produced by Rancid and Operation Ivy punk stalwart Tim Armstrong. He’s also appeared at Coachella, Bonnaroo and numerous other festivals.

In August, Cliff released his latest single, “Human Touch,” which was followed up with a music video in February. In April, he performed at the Grammy salute to Paul Simon in Los Angeles, performing “Mother and Child Reunion.”

Cliff, who has dedicated himself to both his art and humanitarian causes, remains motivated to make a difference in this world. “Now, I feel I have not completed what I’m here on this planet to do,” he stated. “I have to say what I have to say and do what I have to do via music and films. Every morning I wake up, that keeps me going.”
