Mitch Blackman Latest Ex-ICM Partners Agent To Jump To APA

Mitch Blackman, with 40-plus clients including Blackbear, Robert Glasper, Kamasi Washington and Musiq Soulchild, is the latest agent to jump from ICM Partners to APA, it was announced by APA CEO Jim Gosnell and Head of Music Bruce Solar.

Blackman, a 15-year veteran of ICM, was a member of the Leadership Committee within the agency’s Music Division.

An accomplished trumpet player, Blackman began his career as an artist before segueing into agenting. He has an eclectic roster of over clients in many genres, including R&B, alternative pop and jazz. All 40 plus clients of Mitch’s have committed to joining APA.

“Mitch is a one-of-a-kind person and agent, who relates so well to artists because he is one himself. He brings a terrific group of artists across many genres that we are very excited to represent,” said Jim Gosnell, Jim Osborne and Bruce Solar in a joint statement.

“I love what’s happening at APA and am excited to join the team which now includes many great friends from ICM, which makes this transition very comfortable for me and my artists,” said Blackman.

ICM Partners was acquired by CAA in a deal that was cleared by federal regulators and closed June 28. Since then, several ICM agents and execs across music, film, TV and other divisions have moved to new gigs, many at APA.

ICM Partners agents and executives who have joined APA to date include Andrew Rogers, global head of talent; Mike Hayes, senior vice president, global concerts; Chris Smith, senior vice president, concerts and talent; three new agents in the Alternative & Factual Programming department; senior vice presidents Seth Lawrence, and Ryan Wackerman and agents Josh Lanham, Katie Kolben, Phoebe Burnham and Chief Communications Officer, Brad Turell.
