P-U-N-K R-O-C-K: The Linda Lindas To Perform At National Spelling Bee
Southern California punk rockers The Linda Lindas exploded into the zeitgeist thanks to a viral performance in a public library, so their next booking feels like a fit. The quartet will perform at the opening ceremony of the Scripps National Spelling Bee in National Harbor, Maryland.
The bee — now in its 98th year — is a tradition (and cult favorite) in the last week of May, with the early rounds broadcast on ION Plus and the semifinals and finals, set for May 31 and June 1, respectively, live on ION at 8 p.m. Eastern/5 p.m. Pacific.
The Linda Lindas opening ceremony performance will be broadcast at 2 p.m. Eastern May 30 on ION Plus and again during the semifinals broadcast.
Since that viral video, The Linda Lindas — despite being teenagers — have remained a consistent touring outfit, playing with the Yeah Yeahs and Japanese Breakfast at the Hollywood Bowl and performing at Coachella. They’ll open for Paramore in June and July and are scheduled for a set at Lollapalooza in August.
