Allman In The Family
For some Southern rockers – Gregg Allman, for example – the end of one tour just means it’s time to prepare for another. Having recently wrapped several months of dates with his main project, The Allman Brothers Band, the singer/organist is heading out on a new excursion with his other group, Gregg Allman & Friends.
Gregg Allman & Friends are hitting the road on what Allman says will be a four-week tour. The trek is scheduled to kick off January 21 in Jim Thorpe, Pa., with stops mostly along the East Coast over the next week and a half.
Although no further shows are confirmed, the band – which consists of Allman, Floyd Miles, Neil Larson, Robben Ford, Willie Weeks and Steve Potts – plans to make its way through the South on the remainder of the dates.
Allman’s last excursion with his “Friends” band ran through early 2003. The Allman Brothers Band’s most recent outing was a co-headlining tour with Lynyrd Skynyrd.
