Planned Spontaneity
It seems Super Bowl concert audiences just don’t happen on their own. Sometimes, they’re as planned as the performance.
For the Bruce & E Street Super Bowl appearance, the planning started on Jan. 25 when the crowd appeared for a “rehearsal” at a Tampa-area high school’s football field, according to Tampa TV station WTSP.
And the rehearsal covered more ground than just instructing the crowd to act as if they’re at, well, a Springsteen concert.
For instance, orange cones were scattered all over the field. Some cones marked areas audience members needed to avoid, such as where TV cameras would be positioned, while others indicated where audience members could stand.
Apparently the planning was a surprise to some audience members.
“We saw the cones and thought, ‘What are those about,’” one participant said. “I figured we just run out and go ahhh!”
