Madonna To Play Super Bowl?
So far, the NFL has not commented on a report by SBNation.com that Madonna will give the world her best 10 minutes at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis Feb. 5. The sports site based its report on “sources close to the event.”
This isn’t the first time Madonna has been mentioned for the Super Bowl halftime show. SBNation points out she was the rumored performer for Super Bowl XXXIII in Miami in 1998, but a deal was never reached. The site also says there was talk she would headline the 2000 show but she reportedly declined.
The Black Eyed Peas along with Usher and Slash appeared at this year’s Super Bowl XLV at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Previous halftime performers include The Who, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Prince, The Rolling Stones and Paul McCartney. In 2004, Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake played the Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime show at Houston’s Reliant Stadium resulting in the “wardrobe malfunction” seen around the world.
