This won’t be the first time the New Jersey rocker has played Fenway Park. Springsteen was the first rock act to headline the historic stadium back in 2003.

However, today’s announcement comes with a caveat – the show is “pending final approval by the City of Boston.”

But it’s difficult to imagine Boston’s powers-that-be declining a Bruce date. Receiving rave reviews since it launched in March with a warm-up gig at New York City’s Apollo Theatre, more than one critic has called “The Wrecking Ball” tour the best rock show on the road today. When you consider that Boston has had a decades-long love affair with The Boss, it would seem the Fenway date is a lock.

And while we wait for Beantown’s official “Yes,” tickets for Springsteen & E Street at Fenway are scheduled to go on sale May 19. Visit BruceSpringsteen.net for more information.
