Kasey Chambers’ ‘Bittersweet’ Return
Arriving July 24 in the U.S. on Rounder Label Group, Bittersweet was produced by Nick DiDia, who has worked with acts ranging from Pearl Jam to Bruce Springsteen to Incubus. Bittersweet was recorded at Byron Bay’s Studios 301 and marks the first time Chambers didn’t work with her producer/manager/brother Nash Chambers.
“I wanted to have an experience making a record that I had never had before,” Chambers said. “I wanted to challenge myself and I wanted to be excited.
Bittersweet has already raised the excitement level in Chambers’ home country. Released in Australia in August, the disc snagged album of the year at the 2014 ARIAs and won the Country Music Golden Guitar Awards for album of the year while the title track took home the single of the year honor.
Backing Chambers on Bittersweet are Bernard Fanning (acoustic guitar/keyboard, background vocals plus lead vocals on title track), Ashleigh Dallas (banjo, fiddle, mandolin, background vocals), Dan Kelly (electric & acoustic guitars, background vocals), Matthew Engelbrecht (bass and flugelhorn), Declan Kelly (drums, percussion, vibes) and Bill Chambers (backing vocals).
