Europe Lineup Roundup: Stevie Wonder Announced As Final BST Headliner
Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park continues adding impressive names to its already impressive lineup. Stevie Wonder will bring “The Stevie Wonder Song Party: A Celebration of Life, Love & Music” with special guest Lionel Richie to London’s Hyde Park, July 6.
The Black Eyed Peas, Keane, Texas and Feeder join the bill on July 14, the day headlined by Robbie Williams, who’s playing his only UK open-air show of 2019 at BST.
Josh Groban will join July 5 headliner Celine Dion. Of the singer, Groban said, “Over the course of my career, Celine has been an inspiration, friend, and singing with her quite frankly started my career as a teenager. To join her for this extremely special concert is a great honor and I look forward to giving my all for her and the audience at Hyde Park.”
Claire Richards will support Groban and Dion.
AEG Presents’ other big London park event, All Points East, also announced new acts for this year’s event, schedule to take place from May 24 to June 2 in Victoria Park. Kate Tempest, Fat White Family, Temples and more will join headliners The Chemical Brothers, The Strokes and Christine and the Queens.
Isle of Wight Festival today added Garbage, Keane, Dermot Kennedy, Cage The Elephant, Picture This, Ward Thomas, Wet Wet Wet, Björn Again, Feet and The Marcus King Band. The festival, scheduled for June 13-16, is headlined by Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, George Ezra and Biffy Clyro.
Fatboy Slim, Lily Allen, Jess Glynne, Madness, Sigrid, Sam Fender, Tom Walker, Richard Ashcroft, Freya Ridings, Anne-Marie, Idles, Bastille, DMA’s and Jax Jones are also included on the diverse bill.
Sundown Festival, which will take place Aug. 30-Sept. 1 at Norfolk Showground in Norwich, England, announced this week that Stefflon Don will grace the main stage this year. She’ll be joined by Alice Chater, Kelvin Jones, DJ Target, Balcony, Jaguar and more. Headliners Anne-Marie and Tinie Tempah were announced previously.
Hungary’s Balaton Sound added Alle Farben, Deborah de Luca, Dubfire, Eelke Kleijn, Andrea Oliva, Claptone, Monika Kruse, Paul Kalkbrenner and more to its bill. The festival, which takes place July 3-7 in Zamárdi, Hungary, had already confirmed appearances by heavyweights Armin van Buuren, The Chainsmokers, DJ Snake, Future, G-Eazy, Marshmello, Sean Paul, Tiesto, Jess Glynne and many more.
Poland’s OFF Festival Katowice, Aug. 2-4 at Three Pond Valley, added Foals, Stereolab and Octavian to a lineup that includes Suede, Neneh Cherry, Aldous Harding, Superorganism, Perfect Son, Electric Wizard, The Gaslamp Killer, The Comet is Coming, IC3PEAK, Daughters, Slowthai, Black Midi.
Wretch 32, Reverend and the Makers, Band of Skulls, Jax Jones, Mike Skinner and many more will join Elbow, Two Door Cinema Club and Foals at Y Not Festival, which takes place July 25-28 at Pikehall in Derbyshire, England.
Tom Grennan is heading to Snowbombing 2019, which announced recently that Stormzy will curate two nights at the event, which goes down in Mayrhofen, Austria on April 8-13. Other confirmed artists include Fatboy Slim, Andy C, Bicep (DJ), Fredo, Groove Armada (DJ), Wilkinson, Hannah Wants, Denis Sulta, Monki, Camelphat, Mostack, Hunee, Artwork, Skream, Eats Everything, George FitzGerald and Maribou State (DJ).
Snowbombing is one of the festivals this year that had booked The Prodigy as headliner before the group cancelled all shows after the death of frontman Keith Flint.
Rewind Festival, which has three editions – in Scotland, northern England and southern England – announced its comedy lineup, after revealing musical acts earlier. Rewind Scotland, July 19-21 at Scone Palace, Perth, welcomes Phill Jupitus, Jimeoin, Christopher MacArthur-Boyd, Emmanuel Sonubi and Fred Macaulay.
Russell Kane, Lost Voice Guy, Justin Moorhouse and Andre Vincent are coming to Rewind North, Aug. 2-4, at Capesthrone Hall, Macclesfield. Rewind South, Aug. 16-18 at Temple Island Meadows in Henley-on-Thames, welcomes Joel Dommett, Tom Allen, The Raymond & Mr Timpkins Revue, Dave Johns and Angela Barnes.
Speaking of comedians, Kendal Calling just added Josh Widdicombe, Reginald D Hunter, Paul Smith and more. The event also added music acts: Don Broco, Reverend & The Makers, The Pigeon Detectives, Tim Burgess and others. Kendal Calling 2019 takes place July 25-28 at Lowther Deer Park in England’s Lake District.
Denmark’s famous Roskilde completed its lineup by adding Janelle Monáe, Noel Gallagher, Johnny Marr, Vampire Weekend and more. This year’s edition of the non-profit event, June 29-July 6, is headlined by The Cure, Bob Dylan, Cardi B, Robyn, Christine and the Queens and Rosalía. A total of 171 musical acts will perform at Roskilde 2019.
Janelle Monáe was also announced as headliner for Super Bock Super Rock, which takes place July 18-20 in Sesimbra, Portugal. Lana Del Rey, Cat Power, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Christine and The Queens, The 1975, Jungle, Roosevelt, Kaytranada, Shame, Calexico and Iron & Wine, Migos and more had already been announced.
London’s Field Day, which moved to Meridian Water this year, June 7-8, added 15 new artists, including Death Grips, Flohio, Mahalia, Kojey Radical, Femi Kuti, John Talabot, Homeshake, Celeste and more. They join Skepta, Jorja Smith, Diplo, Jungle, Pusha-T, Bonobo (DJ), Octavian, Modeselektor (live), Earl Sweatshirt and more.
