THE·TEAM announced today the promotion of Kevin Shivers to co-president of the global agency’s music group, working closely with Lee Anderson, the agency’s former president and current co-president, in overseeing the company’s global strategy and operations in all sectors of the live music business.

Shivers’ promotion comes 15 months after he left WME to join THE·TEAM, in a move that surprised much of the live industry. A respected agent and leader, the veteran exec boasts a diverse roster that includes Tyler, The Creator, Kid Cudi, Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso, Leon Thomas, Kali Uchis, Vince Staples, Jazmine Sullivan, Crooked Media (which includes the popular “Pod Save America” podcast) and more, has helped the agency drive expansion across global markets and foster a more inclusive, collaborative environment.

“Kevin is one of the most respected and beloved voices in our business. From day one of joining our company, he has made positive impacts through mentorship, strategic input, and a constant drive to improve our business,” Anderson said of THE·TEAM’s new co-president. “He brings a rare combination of instinct, experience, selflessness and integrity to everything he does. As we look to the future, there is no one better to help lead this group forward.”

In his new role, Shivers will continue to work closely with agents and leaders around the globe to help further integrate THE·TEAM’s booking, brand partnerships, tour marketing and artist services capabilities. He will also mentor young agents and executives within the agency.

“I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built together and grateful to be stepping into this role at such an important moment for the company,” Shivers said. “What makes this place special is the people — the level of care, ambition, and belief in one another. We’re just getting started, and I’m excited to continue building alongside this team and our clients around the world.”

Shivers is one of the most celebrated figures in live entertainment and has received numerous awards, including multiple Pollstar Impact 50 honors. He recently appeared on the cover of Pollstar‘s Agency Directory..

“Kevin has always been a leader with integrity and conviction.” THE·TEAM’s Executive Vice President Brent Smith said in a statement. “He elevates every room he’s in, whether that’s advocating for artists, mentoring younger agents, or helping shape the bigger picture. On a personal level, he’s a great friend. I couldn’t be more excited to see him step into this role.”

A Waco, Texas native, Shivers told Pollstar in an Impact 50 profile that his first concert was Too $hort at the Waco Convention Center and on his playlist were Lone Star State rappers like Geto Boys, Scarface and UGK along with a cassette of Eazy-E’s Eazy-Duz-It. The UT graduate’s tale of befriending Charles Attal (who Shivers will appear with at a keynote conversation at this year’s Pollstar Live! conference) at Austin’s famed Stubb’s and working his way up the perilous corporate ladder is an example for all. Going from the mailroom and working and learning from Benjamin Scales in 2008 to assisting Brian Edelman and Marc Geiger to making agent in 2012 and working with acts like LL Cool J to becoming a partner in 2017.

In 2020, Shivers, the highest-ranking Black music agent in the business, wrote a powerful guest post for Pollstar following the tragic murder of George Floyd and the rise of the Black Lives Matter movement. Entitled “Why Our Industry Needs To Wake The F- Up Now.,” the essay righteously called for greater diversity in the live business, more intentional recruitment, better executive development and widespread mentorship—initiatives he’s consistently embraced throughout his impressive career.

James Rubin and Cristina Baxter were also part of the move from WME to THE·TEAM last year. Rubin, who is currently EVP at the agency, and Baxter, a senior vice president, also attested to Shivers’ leadership qualities, having worked with him for years.

“Kevin and I have spent years building together through wins, challenges, and everything in between, and I’ve had a front-row seat to the kind of leader and partner he is,” Rubin stated. “He brings the highest level of care for both our artists and our team, and I’m excited for what we’ll continue to build in this next chapter.”

Baxter added: “Kevin has built a highly respected business grounded in trust and long-term relationships. Having worked alongside him for over 15 years, I’ve seen firsthand the judgment and perspective so many rely on—his reputation is truly unmatched. What sets him apart is his commitment to developing others, with many across the industry counting him as a mentor. He’s forward-thinking, unafraid to challenge norms, and as both a colleague and a friend, I couldn’t be prouder of him.”

THE·TEAM Director Chloe Garcia also spoke highly of Shivers and his ability to bring “people together, no matter the moment. He listens closely and makes decisions with purpose. He’s someone I trust and learn from every day, and I can’t wait to see what he builds in this next role.”
